Ini merupakan satu inovasi besar dalam sistem pengurusan sisa negara."Kerajaan merancang membangunkan sehingga 18 loji WTE di seluruh negara bagi memastikan sisa pepejal dapat dikitar semula dan dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber tenaga boleh diperbaharui," katanya.Sementara itu, Ab Rauf berkata, projek Loji WTE Sungai Udang merupakan projek kedua dalam negara selepas Ladang Tanah Merah, Negeri Sembilan dan dijangka dapat menyelesaikan isu pengurusan sampah di negeri itu.Katanya, pembinaan loji di kawasan seluas hampir empat hektar itu dijangka mula beroperasi pada 2029 serta berupaya membekalkan tenaga kepada 46,000 keluarga di Melaka.Ujarnya, projek itu bukan sahaja mengurangkan beban pelupusan sisa, malah menukarkan sampah kepada sumber tenaga yang bernilai."Jumlah sisa pepejal di Melaka menunjukkan peningkatan ketara apabila mencecah lebih 400,000 tan pada tahun 2025 berbanding 376,000 tan pada tahun sebelumnya menunjukkan keperluan mendesak bagi sistem pengurusan sisa yang lebih mampan."Projek WTE ini memberi impak besar kepada negeri kerana isu sampah kini bukan lagi masalah, sebaliknya menjadi sumber tenaga yang boleh dimanfaatkan," katanya.Beliau memaklumkan projek tersebut melibatkan pelaburan kira-kira RM600 juta dengan kapasiti memproses sehingga 1,000 tan sisa pepejal sehari serta mampu menjana kira-kira 22 megawatt tenaga.Konflik Asia Barat yang tercetus sejak Februari lalu antara Amerika Syarikat dan Iran menyebabkan gangguan serius di Selat Hormuz yang mengendalikan kira-kira 20 peratus bekalan minyak dan gas global.Gangguan logistik dan lonjakan harga minyak mentah secara global secara tidak langsung memberi tekanan kepada bekalan tenaga global ketika ini.
